* These organizations receive funding from the United States government (called Legal Service Corporation programs), and are restricted in their services to migrants. In general, they are only allowed to assist US citizens or legal permanent residents. They are not allowed to provide legal services to workers without authorization (i.e. undocumented workers). But there are several exceptions to this. Migrants may still be eligible to receive assistance from LSC programs if they fit into one of the following categories:

If there are no unrestricted programs in the area and the worker does not fit into any of the above categories, many programs will be able to refer you to an unrestricted program or pro bono attorney.
If you are not sure whether the worker fits into one of these categories, call the organization, explain the situation and ask if you qualify for the free legal assistance.
