Associación de Abogados y Notarios Mayas de Guatemala (AANMG)

The AANMG is an association of Mayan lawyers that defends collective rights of the Mayan people. Although Mayans constitute the majority of the Guatemalan population they are marginalized in all aspects of Guatemalan life. The AAMG is the first-ever of its kind in Guatemala and has made great strides in defending Mayan communities regarding land rights, environmental rights, collective labor rights and discrimination. Founded in 2004, it now constitutes 100 Mayan lawyers.
